A harrow is a simple machine. It's a frame and a set of tines, and it has been doing the same job for a few thousand years because the job still needs doing. The best tools are like that: obvious once you see them, hard to improve on, and built to last.

The bar for building

Software and AI make it easy to build things quickly, which also makes it easy to build things nobody needs. Under the Harrow name, a tool has to earn its place. It should solve a real problem, be plain about what it does, and keep working without constant attention.

Where AI fits

AI is at its best as a tireless field hand. It reads, sorts, drafts and checks, so people can spend their time on judgement. The interesting work is in pointing it at the right jobs and building the guardrails that make it trustworthy.

The plan for this field is practical tools first, built carefully, and kept as long as they keep being useful.
